Been there. Done that. Now it’s time to give back.

I’m a Corporate Trainer specialising in Service and Communication, a Business Strategist, and I bring my work to life through my own ventures, The Training Lab and Business Lab. My work sits at the intersection of people capability, customer experience, communication and real-world business performance.

With over two decades of corporate experience, I bring pragmatic thinking, practical learning and a strong understanding of how businesses work to everything I do — helping people and organisations build capability, solve challenges and turn learning into meaningful results.

Two perspectives, one approach
  • PeopleCommunication, capability and behaviour.
  • BusinessContext, pressures and performance.

WHERE MY TWO WORLDS MEET

I’ve spent much of my career seeing business from both sides; the people side and the business side. Today, I integrate those perspectives, as lasting performance seldom arises from examining either one in isolation.

Sometimes the opportunity is to build capability. Sometimes it’s to challenge the way things are being done. And occasionally, the two need to happen together.

Banking shaped how I understand people, pressure and trust.

It taught me what pressure does to communication, what trust means in a client relationship and how quickly small service failures can become business problems.

My professional journey moved through marketing, corporate banking, core banking, credit risk, strategic relationship management and customer relationship management across institutions including National Development Bank, ICICI Bank and Nations Trust Bank. Those roles placed me in front of customers, internal teams, targets, compliance, operational bottlenecks and decisions that had consequences.

Some of the most valuable lessons were small. A client rarely remembers the internal reason a promise was missed. A team member can understand a concept perfectly and still struggle to express it in the language used in the room. A technically strong manager can still lose good people if they do not know how to communicate, coach or create clarity. Those observations stayed with me.

That question became the bridge from corporate life into coaching, training and eventually The Training Lab.

Training gave me a closer view of behaviour. I saw people who had been labelled weak become confident when the learning was made relevant to them. I saw participants who stayed quiet in one language become expressive in another. I saw how quickly an activity, a role play or a real scenario could expose more than forty slides of theory.

That is why my work today is intentionally practical. I want people to experience the skill, test it, get uncomfortable in a safe environment and leave with something they can use when the meeting, customer, presentation or leadership moment actually arrives.

Away from the Room

Good people for the energy. Good food for the soul. Beautiful things because I appreciate a little aesthetics in life.

Travel when I can, great conversations when I’m lucky, and a healthy amount of Netflix when I’m absolutely not being productive.

And somewhere in the mix, martial arts keep me grounded, and remind me that discipline is useful, even when Netflix calls.

Where I’m in My Element: Service Architect

Service is where my training, business experience and love of communication come together. I’m fascinated by what sits behind a great customer experience — the leadership, culture, communication, standards, technology and everyday behaviours that make service consistent or hinder it in its way.

Artificial intelligence is the accelerator. Human intelligence is the compass. As technology continues to transform how we serve, communicate and work, I believe the human elements — judgement, empathy, connection and understanding — matter more than ever. That’s why I enjoy exploring beyond the frontline and making connections. For me, the real opportunity is not simply to teach people how to serve better but to make better service easier to understand, practise and sustain. This is the thinking behind my service architect approach.

Energy. Pragmatism. Trust.

What working together should feel like
  • EnergyLearning that feels alive.
  • PragmatismSomething people can use.
  • TrustSpace to explain the real problem.

Those are the three feelings I want people to experience when they work with me.

Energy matters because learning should feel alive. Pragmatism matters because people need something they can actually use. Trust matters because clients often begin by describing the safe version of the problem. Once they feel comfortable enough to explain what is really happening, the work becomes far more useful.

TRILINGUAL COMMUNICATION

English, Sinhala and Tamil allow me to design the learning around the audience rather than forcing the audience around the language.

My multilingual work also extends into linguistic training, including Spoken Tamil for Professionals and Business English. The commercial value is practical: a relationship manager, salesperson or service professional who can communicate with a customer in the language they are most comfortable using can often build trust faster and reduce unnecessary friction.

The categories may differ. The thinking does not. Understand the real problem, design around the people involved, create a practical intervention and make the outcome easier to see.

Bring the real challenge.

THE SHIFT

Over time, my focus shifted from what people know to what they can apply.

That question became the bridge from corporate life into coaching, training and eventually The Training Lab.

Training gave me a closer view of behaviour. I saw people who had been labelled weak become confident when the learning was made relevant to them.
